The Brow Lift Procedure
As we age, the effects of time take a toll on our bodies, often resulting in deep creases on the forehead, frown lines, and droopy eyelids. A forehead or brow lift can help reduce premature aging signs and allow individuals to look as young as they feel. After tightening the underlying tissue and altering any muscles causing problems, the incisions are carefully closed, resulting in a smooth forehead, raised eyebrows, and diminished creases on the face.
Newer techniques such as endoscopic forehead surgery allow for smaller incisions in the scalp and hair-bearing areas. The muscle and tissue are elevated using an endoscope. During your consultation in our Beverly Hills office, your surgeon will analyze your facial structure, the condition of your skin, and your hairline to determine the best place for incisions.
Forehead Lift Recovery
After the forehead or brow lift surgery, it is common to experience some swelling and bruising in the forehead, cheek and eye area for up to ten days. To minimize swelling, keep your head elevated and use cold compresses. As the incisions heal, you may feel some numbness and itching, which is temporary. Bandages are removed within one to three days and sutures are usually removed within seven to ten days. Your surgeon will advise you on when to resume normal activities.
In some cases, a forehead or brow lift is done together with Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or facelift to achieve the best results.
Am I a good candidate for a forehead or brow lift?
Good health and realistic expectations are prerequisites for all elective surgery. Forehead and brow lifts are an excellent option if you have sagging brow or deep furrows between the eyes. The surgery is generally performed on patients between the ages of 40 and 65. However, patients with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose can achieve a more refreshed look with this procedure at a younger age.
At the time of your consultation, Dr. Cohen will analyze your facial structure, the condition of your skin and your hairline in order to decide the best place for the incisions. Please have your thorough medical history available so your surgeon can consider any conditions that may increase risks.
